DreamHack Masters Spring 2021

On April 29, the tournament series founded by DreamHack in 2016 is starting. These competitions have traditionally attracted fans from all over the world inside the big cyberrennas, where the best teams from Europe, China, Oceania and North America will compete for titles and a prize of $250,000.

DreamHack Masters is an incredible eSports event with 16 best teams fighting for a huge prize fund. Some clubs have passed on the direct invites, while the rest had to compete in the closed qualifications. In the first round, the teams will play a group round, which will determine the six participants of the playoffs. Remarkably, the winners of the group stage will go directly to the semifinals, and teams that finished second and third, will start playing with the quarterfinals. Playoff matches will be held in Bo3 Single-Elimination format. The finals will be held in Bo5 format.

On April 29, we will enjoy a number of spectacular competitions in this tournament! Let’s determine the favorites of the confrontations.

Gambit Esports vs Team Fiend

This match will open the online championship. The start of the meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. (Moscow time). Gambit Esports is a well-known Russian team, which has been showing excellent results in recent months. For example, in the beginning of April, the guys took gold at the Pinnacle Cup, and also became champions of the major event IEM Katowice 2021.

In the official HLTV rankings, the team takes first place, passing Astralis, Heroic, NaVi and Virtus.Pro. So, we can clearly state that Gambit is one of the most promising teams of the upcoming championship. In the last 10 games Gambit Esports had 9 wins, and it shows the confidence and a good team play.

Team Fiend is a new pack that hasn’t had time to play with the top teams and gain experience yet. The team tried to qualify for some CS:GO tournaments, but their attempts were unsuccessful. The guys have never taken part in significant events, so it will probably be difficult to play against experienced professionals. The results of the last 10 games are disappointing – the team won only 3 times.

Therefore, the guys have a little chance in the game with the experienced Gambit Esports. Team Fiend is a promising team, but they are hardly able to defeat the Russians.

Team Spirit vs G2 Esports

The best-of-1 match starts at 1 p.m. (Moscow time).

G2 Esports is a strong French team that participated in all the big tournaments of 2020. They got a silver medal at IEM Katowice 2020, ESL One: Road to Rio, DreamHack Masters Spring 2020, won a bronze medal at ESL One Cologne, and then became the champions of the BLAST Premier: Fall Regular Season. But after that, gamers began a “rough patch “, which caused G2 Esports to fall outside of the top 10 of the HLTV rankings. Nowadays, they are occupying the 13th position.

Team Spirit started 2021 quite successfully. This winter, the guys took first place at the DreamHack Open January, participated in the IEM Katowice 2021 tournament, and finished it in the top three. The team is currently in 9th position on the HLTV Leaderboard.

The teams met twice – first at IEM Katowice 2021, where the Russians won with a score of 2:1. But at the BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown, the French took a beautiful revenge (2:1). Right now, G2 Esports and Team Spirit are approximately on equal positions, but a slight advantage can be given to Spirit – lately the guys have been looking stronger.

NaVi vs Mousesports

The fight will start on April 29 at 2:10 p.m. (Moscow time) in a best-of-1 format.

Natus Vincere was at the top of the HLTV Leaderboard throughout 2020. However, later the team was shifted to the fourth position, behind Astralis, Heroic and Gambit Esports. In March 2021, the boys finished 5th in the IEM Katowice 2020 tournament. At ESL Pro League Season 13, Natus Vincere was also frankly weak. Win rate of “Born to Win” during the last 10 matches is 50%.

Mousesports – is a professional European team of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Since its foundation, the team has won about 30 gold medals in various tournaments. But 2020 was a rather shaky year for the club. For example, the cybergame players became champions in the BLAST Premier: Fall 2020 Showdown, GGBet Ice Challenge, but at the recent ESL Pro League Season 13, this team totally failed, finishing in the 21st position in the league. The mouz are ranked 15th in the HLTV.org ranking.

Over the last 5 meetings Natus Vincere overcame mouz three times, while the Europeans were able to win only 2 duels.

It should be noted that even though “Born to Win” have slowed down, they still look a little stronger than Mousesports.

Virtus.Pro vs FaZe Clan

April 29, this match will begin at 2:10 p.m. MSK time.

Virtus.Pro is a Russian club that made a loud statement about themselves at the end of 2020. The team is currently ranked number five in the HTLV rankings. They won silver at the IEM Katowice 2021 tournament, and before that, they had won the championship at cs_summit 7 and DreamHack Open December. But at ESL Pro League Season 13 and FunSpark ULTI tournaments, “The Bears” were able to get only one victory out of five.

FaZe Clan is quite a famous team among the fans of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Previously, the guys performed very well in various championships, but at the moment the team is no longer in great shape: in the last five fights – only two “victories”. The team dropped to 17th place in the HTLV Leaderboard, and finished 17th in the ESL Pro Season 13 standings.

It’s been over a year since the last meeting between Virtus.Pro and FaZe Clan occured. That time, the guys from FaZe Clan won, but a lot has changed since then.

Despite failures in ESL Pro League Season 13 and FunSpark ULTI, “The Bears” play more consistently and can demonstrate a high level of team play.

We are going to watch an incredibly spectacular start to the DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 Championship. So who will be the favorites of the competition, and who will lag behind? We’ll see on Thursday, April 29!

We wish good luck to the teams and to all our readers! Follow the predictions with Melsport!
