The current leaders of the Premier League, Manchester United, will arrive at Craven Cottage to take on the outsiders of the season, Fulham, on January 20. Will the Cottagers, as London’s oldest football team, be able to show the guests who is the boss?
Being promoted to the Premier League in 2020, Scott Parker’s side began the new season poorly. Fulham sit in the 18th place and are under the threat of relegation back to the Championship.
In the last 6 games, the Cottagers gained only 5 points, meaning that 5 matches ended in stalemates. On one hand, at least they didn’t lose. On the other hand, draws will not help the club avoid relegation. They need to start winning in order to climb up the standings. There are 21 games ahead, and Fulham still have a chance to pick up much-needed points. We’ll find out whether the players will use their chance as the season unfolds.
Solskjaer has deserved a big round of applause. After a slow start to the season, the Red Devils managed to outrun Klopp’s Liverpool and take the top spot. It definitely requires a certain amount of luck and a brilliant mind-set, both of which Solskjaer possesses.
The revival of Manchester United began after a dramatic 0-1 home loss to Arsenal. The Red Devils finally pulled themselves together and demonstrated a 12-game unbeaten run. Who would have thought that the main candidate to get sacked, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, would turn into the big star manager.
Anyway, Manchester United will still need to retain their place on top. Besides, the team will soon have to divide their strengths between the Premier League games and the Europa League matches.
Given the United’s excellent form, bookies consider anything but an away win, to be a huge surprise. Thus, the odds on Fulham’s victory – 6, while the Red Devils, as favourites, are offered the odds of 1.54.
You can also bet on a draw, although it seems unlikely – 4.48.
