Gvozdyk vs Beterbiev. Fight preview

The fight between two best light heavyweights of Eastern Europe, Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Artur Beterbiev, is set for October 18. The event will take place in the United States. The winner will get two of four main titles: WBC and IBF.

For Artur Beterbiev (14-0, 14 knockouts), the two-time Olympian, it is probably the first fight against such a serious opponent. For six years in professional boxing Gvozdyk had 17 fights and never lost. What makes it even more interesting is that both guys are Olympians and huge punchers.

Beterbiev is famous for his solid and tireless pressure, as he is constantly attacking. Recently Artur has beaten Radivoje Kalajdzic and Callum Johnson. Gvozdyk is also in a great shape. He has wins over Doudou Ngumbu, Adonis Stevenson, and Mehdi Amar. However, it would be extremely difficult for him to resist Beterbiev’s unceasing punching.

Gvozdyk fought passively through the first 10 rounds against Stevenson. Only in the early part of the 11th round he went on the attack and got Stevenson out. Beterbiev’s style is opposite. He prefers to attack in the beginning to finish the fight and not to wait for judges’ call.

In the upcoming fight Gvozdyk should choose a more aggressive strategy. If he reuses the same game plan as against Stevenson, he will likely lose many points or even be defeated.
It is worth mentioning that despite different fight styles and strategies, the rivals are equally strong and skilled. Melbet’s odds are 1.75 on Beterbiev and 1.98 on Gvozdyk.
