Valencia will play host to their guests from Pamplona at the Mestalla Stadium on January 21. Osasuna are in a terrible need of points in order to stay in La Liga. Meanwhile, Los Che will be trying to make it up for the last two disappointing years.
A once great team that was always a threat to the opponents in the Spanish league, now demonstrates pretty average results. We discussed some of the club’s problems in our article La Liga. Valencia vs. Sevilla. Let’s see if anything has changed since then.
Since December 22, 2020, Los Che has played 3 more matches. At first, they lost to Granada on a visit (2-1). That match is remembered for the 3 red cards shown by the referee: the guests received 2 cards at the70th and 73rd minutes, while the hosts got one red card at the 76th minute. After that loss, Valencia drew a game against Cadiz and won an away match against Real Valladolid (0-1).
Currently, Javi Gracia’s side sit in the 14th place and lack 11 points in order to compete for a spot in the European competitions.
Los Rojillos returned to La Liga by winning the Segunda Division 2 years ago. However, it does seem that they are planning to go back again. It is still too early to make any assumptions, but the club is very close to being relegated. Only Huesca, the newcomers to the top-flight, have worse results.
At the moment, Osasuna are 19th in the league table. Unfortunately, Jagoba Arrasate’s experience as the head coach couldn’t help the club.
Osasuna have been winless for 12 straight games. The last 3 points were gained in the match against Athletic Bilbao in October 2020. Since then, Los Rojillos have had either draws or losses, thus, collecting only 15 points in total. As a result, Osasuna sit in the second lowest place and need at least 3 points to climb out of the relegation zone. In our opinion, it is not too much for those who truly wish to change the situation.
Bookies expect a home win for Valencia, offering the odds of 2.064 on their victory. The outsiders of La Liga, Osasuna are given the odds of 3.9. You can also bet on a draw for the odds of 3.34.
Both sides have certain goals to accomplish in this match. Valencia want to move a little closer to the top 10, while Osasuna need to avoid Segunda. Who will get the points on Thursday?
